COLUMBUS, OH – Hexion Inc. announced an expansion of its waterborne epoxy resin production capacity in Tianjin, China. The project will take advantage of the most modern technologies, including a new reactor, and will allow Hexion to meet increasing demand for its waterborne epoxy products used to formulate waterborne coatings, polymer flooring and sizing for glass or carbon fibers used in wind energy, automotive and aerospace applications.

With the expansion, Hexion will be able to locally produce and shorten supply times for a broad range of epoxy resins, curing agents and modifiers including its latest development, a waterborne, 2K zinc-rich resin system that is comparable in performance to traditional solventborne technologies. The investment in new capacity, combined with Hexion's dedicated research and development capabilities in Shanghai, offers regional customers an end-to-end solution for their product development needs.
