PHILADELPHIA – During the annual R&D 100 Awards event held on November 12 and 13, R&D Magazine honored Dow Coating Materials (DCM), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Co., with an R&D 100 Award.
R&D Magazine recognized ACRYSOL™ RM-725 Rheology Modifier as a winner in the Mechanical Devices/Materials category. ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier offers excellent applied hiding, enhanced surface appearance and better touch-up in a broad range of paint formulations.
Known as the “Oscars of Innovation,” the R&D 100 Awards honor products and technologies released in the last year that make a significant impact within the research and development community.
“We’re excited to have R&D Magazine recognize our teams’ efforts and contributions to the coatings industry,” said Sarah Eckersley, Global R&D Director, Dow Coating Materials, Monomers and Plastics Additives. “Honoring ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier, R&D Magazine celebrates the work of our talented research team and continues to accelerate our momentum. Dow Coating Materials continues to leverage our market acumen, customer collaboration and industry expertise to develop customized solutions for the industry’s growing application needs.”
ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier is a next-generation HEUR enabled by ACID SUPPRESSION™ Technology, employing pH-triggered association versus requiring the use of solvent or surfactant. This year’s addition to Dow’s functional family of additives provides a near-zero-VOC additive option with excellent sag/flow balance and broad formulation capabilities for vinyl acrylic, vinyl acetate ethylene and other acrylic binder systems.
“Our research team is always tasked with creating innovations that balance low VOC with high performance in both industrial and architectural coatings; we work hard to holistically address this ongoing industry challenge and develop solutions that not only offer decoration and protection, but broader functionality,” said Eckersley.
ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier joins six other technologies from Dow honored with R&D 100 Awards, one of which received special recognition in Green Technology this year.
