SHANGHAI – PPG Industries has launched the PPG University Talent Power Program at the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) in Shanghai. The program provides comprehensive academic and career-related assistance to Chinese students, integrating scholarships, campus recruitment efforts and employment guidance. The kickoff ceremony attracted more than 200 students and faculty from ECUST and comprised a scholarship presentation, campus talk, campus recruitment, career guidance and experience sharing.
“PPG is committed to supporting higher education and talent cultivation in China,” said Cathy Yan, PPG General Manager, Corporate and Government Affairs, Asia Pacific. “The company strives to help college students realize their academic goals. This year, we have combined the scholarship program with our campus recruiting efforts in order to help students become familiar with the working world during their college career. This will also enable PPG to attract more talented students with backgrounds in chemistry.”
At the University Talent Power Program event, PPG offered students an introduction to the company and its businesses, announced scholarship winners, and detailed its campus recruitment plan. PPG representatives from various business areas shared their career experiences and engaged in a question-and-answer session about recruiting and career development.
PPG has sponsored scholarships for Chinese students for 12 years. The PPG University Talent Power Program reaches 11 Chinese universities including Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, Nanjing University, Nanjing Tech University, Nankai University, South China University of Technology, Tianjin University, Wuhan University of Technology and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. This year, the University Talent Power Program will provide more than RMB 350,000 in scholarships to talented and deserving students.
