MUTTENZ, Switzerland – Specialty chemicals company Clariant hosted its inaugural Sustainability Dialog in Frankfurt, Germany, on September 2 to examine the role of sustainability within the specialty chemicals industry and the company’s contribution to a sustainable society. The event at the Clariant Innovation Center brought together top-level Clariant management with third-party experts to foster dialog with important stakeholders from customer industries, politics, NGOs and the media.
More than 150 participants attended the keynote presentations of CEO Hariolf Kottmann, Head of the Industrial & Consumer Specialties Business Unit Christian Vang, and guest speaker Klaus Töpfer, Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, who discussed sustainable development trends in the specialty chemicals industry and set a framework to larger societal context. Other highlights of the day included a special sustainability focus on India and China, insights on value chain and supply chain collaboration, and the results of Clariant’s screening of the sustainability performance of its product portfolio.
