Surplus Coatings
Since beginning to work for Surplus Coatings in 1995 and purchasing it 2001, Dwayne Behrens has recycled over 125 million pounds of powder coating in 25 years. Knowing that the powder coat industry disposes of 2 billion pounds annually, Dwayne has been on a quest to figure out how to recycle the world’s spent powder coating. As co-founder of Innovakote, Dwayne and his team have developed the equipment and technology needed to begin recycling the world’s waste powder coating.
Waste powder coating, a problem that we all have or an opportunity for a greener and more profitable future? We will look at where we are as an industry and look to see if we can do better. What are the improvements we can do for our business and the environment? What contributes to a powder coating going from an average cost per pound of $3.75 to an expensive waste that we have to pay to dispose of? Can we create value from our spent powder coating? During this session, we will look at the world’s recycle trends, talk about new technologies, and examine how as an industry we can produce less waste and create value for our spent powder coating.
