Grinding media is one of the most critical "raw materials" chosen in the milling process. Companies are beginning to understand the importance of using high value media. This talk discusses the various aspects that must be considered when choosing the right grinding media. Due to the abbreviated time allowed, this talk will focus on the zirconia oxide medias as well as the new medias that have developed in the past two years, with brief comments about the new alumina and zirconia silicate and steel medias. Attendees will learn how to determine the optimum media type, size and quantity for a particular application. Topics covered will include: What are the various materials available? How is the correct size determined? How is the correct density determined? How is the correct material chosen? How is the correct charge determined? Best ways to maintain the media.
