Wörwag of Germany Acquires Egyptian’s Indiana Site

DETROIT — Wörwag Coatings LLC North America, a subsidiary of Karl Wörwag Lack- und Farbenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG, has purchased the assets of Egyptian Coatings’ Lafayette, IN, operations. Wörwag, based in Germany, is a supplier of liquid and powder coatings for automotive and industrial applications.

Wörwag said the acquisition marks its entry into the North American market as a manufacturer of various coatings for general industrial, automotive and consumer electronic applications. Egyptian Coatings was formerly part of Egyptian Lacquer Manufacturing Co. Inc., based in Franklin, TN.

As a result of the acquisition, Wörwag said existing Egyptian Coatings customers will gain access to all current Wörwag technologies, including urethanes, epoxies, polyesters, acrylics and other coatings types.
