Among his many achievements for the Association, Nuijten guided the European UVITECH project, which was one of the first projects providing data on the safe use and environmental friendliness of UV/EB technology. From this, came the idea to develop the UV and EB protocols.
He was also instrumental in ensuring that UV/EB technology would be recognized as a valid technology qualifying for the ECO-label. Also, together with others, he prevented the implementation of a mercury ban for UV lamps that would have been detrimental to the UV industry. Nuijten’s latest task was establishing the project investigating the de-inking and recyclability of paper.
