VERNON HILLS, IL – Rust-Oleum is partnering with Children’s Fairyland, a Northern California non-profit organization. Beginning with the Flecto Carousel this spring, Rust-Oleum is committed to helping America’s first storybook theme park restore one attraction per year.
In 2001, Flecto Corp. (now a part of Rust-Oleum) donated a toddler-sized carousel to the park after years as a feature in Flecto trade shows. Nearly 15 years later, the carousel is in need of major repair. Rust-Oleum donated the sandblasting, paints and expertise with the help of Regional Sales Manager, Chris Cargo. Professional sandblasting, provided by Oakland native Ric Ron of Myers Sandblasting, ensured the carousel’s wood and metal were sufficiently prepared for primer and hand-painted detailing.
“It’s been a labor of love to get the Flecto Carousel restored to its former glory, but we couldn’t have done it without Rust-Oleum,” says C.J. Hirschfield, Executive Director, Children’s Fairyland. “This carousel and all of our attractions bring joy to thousands of kids each year. We needed a partner that could match our love of community, and happily found it in Rust-Oleum and Chris Cargo.”
